Workbench Plans Can Get Your Project Moving Ahead:
Are you needing to Build a Workbench for your shop or garage. With the right set of workbench plans it can make the job easy and enjoyable. The first thing you should consider is what will your new workbench be used for. There are many different styles and designs you can choose from. The most popular being multi-purpose made for general all around use and suited for most projects that you are doing around your home. There are specialty benches designed for a specific tasks like woodworking, gardening, electronics and jewelry and watch making.
Once you have decided on the kind that you want think about where in your garage or shop that you want it to go. Is it going to go against a wall or do you want to construct it to wrap around the corner wall, this particular design can be quite useful in utilizing and saving space. - Circular saw: With a good sharp blade is a must
- Combination square: For marking your cuts
- Cordless drill and Bits
- Tape measure: A 12 footer will do
- Carpenter’s or claw hammer
- Pencil
- Fasteners: Screws or nails
Thats it, you can build a basic workbench with just the tools described above and have a functional and very useful addition to your shop that you built with you own hands
OK lets talk about the kind of wood you want to use. By far the most economical wood of choice is going to be pine made form dimensional lumber sizes that are available at any hardware or lumber yard. You can use either regular pine or treated. Treated wood is resistant to rot and insects like termites and should be used if it is going to be outside exposed to the elements like rain or snow. For just indoor use regular pine lumber is the way to go. There are many of other types of woods that can be used like Oak or Maple but the cost on these has gone up so much that they are not practical to use for a workbench and can be hard to find.
Building this Project can be rewarding and enjoyable, the simple workbench can be a built
as a weekend project from start to finish. Just remember a few things before you start. Find a set quality of workbench plans that suit your needs before you start. They should have a detailed materials list of everything you need before you start, with pictures and diagrams on how its put together and what the finished product will look like. This will make building your workbench go smoothly and the finished product look great and something you can be proud of. Go build something today!
